Many local governments around the world have partnered with Geosol to modernize their land administration and urban planning systems. In Somaliland, land tenure and administration in the capital, Hargeisa, had long relied on manual processes with minimal technology.

Since 2018, Geosol has worked with the Hargeisa Local Government to implement a GIS-based digital land registration and management system.

This innovative platform allows landlords to register land and property online, making it easier for individuals and businesses to transfer ownership and receive authenticated title deeds featuring advanced anti-fraud security — similar to those found in western passports.

The system has reduced the time and cost of registering and transferring ownership from 90 days to just 9, significantly improving the investment climate for private sector players, especially local banks.

As a result, local government revenue has increased by 69% in the first year, while streamlined processes have driven down operational costs and enhanced service delivery.
